Niche, a LongReach Arts Exhibit

LongReach Arts, the Mid-Hudson Valley’s oldest artist cooperative will be
exhibiting at The Howland Cultural Center, 477 Main Street, Beacon, from
Saturday, August 4 through Sunday, August 26. We invite the public to meet the
artists at the opening reception on the 4th from 3-5 pm. There will also be a
closing reception on the 26th from 4:30 – 6:30. This exhibit brings together our
current 19 members, some of Hudson Valley’s finest artists. Using the vertical
niches that run along the interior of this space, the artists have created
personalized arrangements of their work. The various mediums include oil and
watercolor paintings, pastel, photography and fiber art. The gallery is open
Fridays through Mondays, 1-5 pm.

LongReachArts was formed as summergroup in 1982 with a home in the former
Poughkeepsie City Hall. The name change occurred when a Thai furniture
company purchased our domain name for a summer furniture grouping. A
longreach is a sailing feature along the Hudson River in the Poughkeepsie area.
For many years, since our former gallery home became the Commissioner of
Jurors building, we have exhibited in galleries as far as Hudson, Middletown,
Albany, New York City and Kent, Ct. as well as in the Marist, Dutchess Community
College and the Vassar Palmer art galleries. Our members’ work is in both private
and public collections in the US and throughout the world.

Exhibiting in our Niche show are members Arlene Becker, Deborah Bein, Diane
Christi, David Curtis, Carolyn Edlund, Staats Fasoldt, Stacie Flint, Jose Gomez,
Claudia Gorman, Rob Greene, Trina Greene, Carol Loizides, Ellen Metzger O’Shea,
Carol Pepper-Cooper, Nancy Scott, Elayne Seaman, Michelle Squires, Marlene
Wiedenbaum and Carole Wolf. Reflecting a strong variety of styles infused with
energy of the Hudson Valley, this exhibit is not to be missed.
